Pushpin for Pinboard App Reviews

Use it a lot

This is a great app and is the primary way I use pinboard. It is intuitive and runs well. However there are some basic features missing like sort - if they were added that would bring it to a 5 star!

Very buggy

Looks nice, but its extremely buggy when attempting to add links with the share sheet (especially with TweetBot).

Great App! Please Consider Night Mode

I love this app and am happy to pay for it. I tried Pinner and others but find this to have the best auto-filled description and tags. Theres really only one thing I wish I could see and that would be a night mode for navigating the app itself. The reader mode has it, but I find it jarring in the dark when I leave reader mode and go back to the app navigation. This would put this app over the top!

Buy a different pinboard client

Its just an average app I find that it crashes frequently and it hasnt been updated in over six months

Share sheet crashes constantly

Good app, but the share sheet—which is super important in an app like this—crashes all the time when used in other apps. The swipe right to auto fill title also rarely works. Im happy to pay a premium for a good app, but it has to work perfectly. This one just doesnt.

Cant handle my enormous Pinboard collection

I used Pinner but its share sheet is flaky. So switched to Pushpin. Alas, it cant handle my tens of thousands of Pinboard items (extreme case). It simply refuses to update, or updates slowly. Suspect way it invokes Pinboard API triggers throttling. Pinner avoids that. I think for majority of users it is fine, but for me it simply does not work whereas Pinner does (save share sheet!). So only tow stars for my use case.

Very useful companion app

This lest me use pinboard.in services on my iPad and iPhone. Great share sheet extension - reliable and speedy

Share sheet is slow

The app is good when its working. But simple tasks like using the share sheet in Twitter or Safari are slow and sometimes result in a frozen Safari or Twitter, forcing me to kill/restart the apps.

Ok for reading, terrible for anything else

The "read later" bookmarklet/extension crashes Safari. (Never seen that one before!) When you try to add a bookmark, the app freezes. When you try to refresh your bookmarks, it only works about half the time. For ten dollars Id expect better.

Offline sync appears to be completely broken.

I had to completely delete my cache to get pushpin to even start a sync, despite the fact that it should be downloading the last 30 days of bookmarks automatically. After clearing the cache, it doesnt perform background sync and manual sync crashes the app entirely. This problem persists no matter the options I choose for offline, whether it be all, unread only or last 30 days only. Definitely would not recommend in its current state.

Broken and lagging behind competition

This is the most expensive Pinboard app available on the App Store. I gladly paid the ten dollars for what was at first a great experience. Sadly, it has since gone to seed and lags far behind its competitors. It does not support Safari View Controller for in-app opening of links with content blocking (available since iOS 9, almost a year and a half ago), it does not have a functioning reading mode and the "read later" extension crashes (both primary selling points...), it does not have a dark/night mode, it does not allow for starred bookmarks or the editing of URLs for existing bookmarks (both crucial features for a bookmarking app...) and it does not support the larger iPad Pro screen size. It is neither "blazing fast" (except at crashing) nor "feature-packed," in other words. And this is all at twice the cost of the two main alternatives (Pinner, Pinswift). Unless and until this is updated, youd do well to steer clear of it. Dont hold your breath though—the developer says no updates are planned except to prevent it from crashing.

Best Pinboard app

Best of all, well worth the price. The only Pinboard app youll need.

Good design but constantly crashing

Crashing constantly when trying to add links to pinboard. Unfortunately it is useless in its present state. Hopefully updates will fix this but it is pretty useless at the moment.

Great app, but crashes a lot!

Could be more robust: crashes way too often when searching and adding new sites. This unnecessarily spoils an otherwise good app.

So great!

I simply love the new direct sharing feature from within safari. Great job!

Pinboard user? Get this!

I tried a few ways to get a better Pinboard experience on iOS. This is the best tool I could find. Full access in every way, great extensions, good interface.

The best...

...Pinboard search client. Why is syncing so slow - how is Pinswift always faster? I always need the latest links instanly. Please fix the extension crashes.

Good App

Really good App. Please add support for the iPad PRO.

Great!

Price is steep, sure - but the app is great. Took me a bit of puttering to grasp all it could do but I wouldnt want to be without it, now. Lovely style & functionality.

Great App

Does what it says on the tin: a full featured, well laid out, great tool. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who uses Pinboard. Just wish there was a way to hide those interface elements that I don’t use (e.g.: fandom and other saved searches, notes, etc.) to declutter some of the interface. I also feel like it should take fewer taps to drill down to groups of bookmarks organized by tag. But these are minor gripes in a great app. Feature request: a way to open tab sets and grab open tabs from Safari session to save as a new tab set. That would be suh-weet.
